Anna's actions
Nature
Forage for My Food
I will use the 'Learn More' resources below to find where I can forage for my own food locally.
Community
Express My Support
I will find out who in my state makes decisions that impact the environment and express my support for more environmental actions.
Health
Go get a check up
I will make an appointment for my annual physical.
Energy
Choose LED Bulbs
I will replace 1 incandescent lightbulb(s) with Energy Star-certified LED bulbs, saving up to $14 per fixture per year.
Energy
Switch to Cold Water
I will switch to washing my clothes in cold water, saving up to 1,600 lbs of C02 over the course of the next year.
Simplicity
Go for a Daily Walk
I will take a walk for 10 minutes each day.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep 1 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.
Simplicity
Eat Mindfully
I will eat all of my meals without distractions, e.g., phone, computer, TV, or newspaper.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Waste
Go Paperless
I will reduce the amount of paper mail that I receive by opting into paperless billing and ending unwanted subscriptions.
Waste
Use a Reusable Mug
I will avoid sending 1 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Go PaperlessReducing your paper mail can be such a freeing action to take -- by reducing what is coming in, you can reduce what is going into the recycling bin too. How does it make you feel? What is the next step you will take to reduce your waste?
Anna Froese 10/17/2018 2:27 PMI love getting less junk mail. I already had a policy that I don't bring it into the house. -
Anna Froese 10/17/2018 8:50 AMThis site is badly optimized for mobile. This test box in particular is wonky. -

Anna Froese 10/17/2018 2:33 PMThis was supposed to say, "It's easy to be outside when it's so lovely." But my phone cannot handle this website.

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Go get a check upHow do you practice self care?
Anna Froese 10/15/2018 4:22 PMLately it's with meal planning. I spend less money, am less stressed, and feel better when I take some time on Sunday to figure out what I'm eating for breakfast/lunch during the week.
Actually there are several minor chores I've added to my weekends lately that mean I feel better throughout the week. -
Anna Froese 10/15/2018 11:12 AMI am thinking more about ways to reduce household waste. There seem to be a lot of products that I can buy to help me with that but I'm also resistant to the idea that using less plastic is an outcome achieved by buying more plastic. -
Anna Froese 10/12/2018 2:18 PMI found an extremely fuzzy caterpillar today. I moved it from the parking lot to some bushes where it shouldn't be molested. I googled it and it was a Wooly Bear, which was a very good name.-
Anne Buzzini 10/15/2018 4:05 PMThose are the best!!!!
