  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Meet My Local Farmers
When you know who produces your food, you are connecting personally to your complex regional food system. What are the advantages of knowing who produces your food and where it comes from? Do you think this might enable someone to advocate for a better quality of life for those who produce their food, both near and far?

I think when you know where your food comes from, it allows you to know what you're consuming. If you know your produce at the farmer's market comes from a home garden that doesn't use pesticides, it gives you a sense of security. If you buy beef from  a local farmer, then you know what that beef is being fed and how they're treated (living conditions, etc...), which is turn allows you to be a knowledgeable consumer. I think eating locally not only supports your own local economy, but also improves your quality of life. Food that is mass produced isn't nearly as healthy, in my opinion.
