Srivatsan's actions
Food
Try a New Way to Prep
I will try a new method of food preparation, such as canning, pickling, or baking bread.
Health
Audit Toxic Cleaning Products in my Home
I will spend 30 minutes researching toxic chemicals found in cleaning supplies and personal care products and remove them from my home.
Nature
Explore My Area
I will explore at least one new hiking trail or nature walk in my area.
Transportation
Drive Less
I will cut my car trip mileage by only taking necessary trips.
Transportation
Work from Home
I will work from home 3 day(s) to avoid my commute's carbon output.
Waste
Use Reusable Bags
I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.
Energy
Online Energy Audit
I will complete an online energy audit of my home, office, or dorm room and identify my next steps for saving energy.
Waste
Personal Waste Audit
I will collect all of my unrecyclable, non-compostable trash to raise my awareness of how much I send to the landfill.
Waste
Go Paperless
I will reduce the amount of paper mail that I receive by opting into paperless billing and ending unwanted subscriptions.
Waste
Launch a Recycling Program
I will start a recycling program at my workplace or school. If a recycling program exists, I will advocate for ways to improve and expand it.
Water
Fix Leaky Faucets
I will fix faucets or report leaky faucets to facilities that have been wasting up to 9 gallons (34 L) of water per faucet every day.
Waste
Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Historically, marginalized and low-income communities live closer to landfills, contributing to a multitude of health problems. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate.
Waste
Use a Reusable Mug
I will avoid sending 2 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Water
Insulate Water Pipes and Water Heater
I will avoid wasting water while waiting for the shower or sink to heat up.
Energy
Power Down the Computer
I will power down my computer and monitor when not using it for more than 2 hours, saving up to (1.1) lbs of CO2 each day that I do this.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Launch a Recycling ProgramHow might thinking creatively help us address big systems problems differently?
Srivatsan Ganesh 10/22/2018 8:58 PMExperts in the area might fully focus on solving the known problems.. while a common man knows the root cause of problem they face every day.. collective ideas from different groups of people will give creative ideas thus bigger problems can be solved using different solutions -

REFLECTION QUESTIONWater Fix Leaky FaucetsFixing leaky faucets is one of the tasks that we can easily put off until later. Good job on completing this action! How will you use the momentum from completing this action to increase your water efficiency?
Srivatsan Ganesh 10/16/2018 6:48 AMEvery single drop of water saved is helping someone to get that source of water..
wherever I see water being wasted - be it leaky faucets or other means - i would me cautious to save water.
taps not closed properly that leaky would be the next thing to focus to improve water efficiency -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Audit Toxic Cleaning Products in my HomeTo what extent do you believe that environmental factors contribute to your own health or issues with health?
Srivatsan Ganesh 10/16/2018 6:44 AMWe live in a society. so each individual's contribution will make impact on others in the society. if there are industries that produce waste & spoil the environment - it will have impact on my personal health .. common example is global warming that affects everyone & personally due to increase in pollution & other environmental factors.
