An estimated 71% of seabirds and 30% of turtles have been found with plastics in their stomachs. When they ingest plastic, marine life has a 50% mortality rate. By asking for no straw when placing a drink order, I will keep 5 plastic straw(s) of out of the ocean each day.

This week my goals that had to do with the outdoors went well because of the weather. The goals that involved water didn't go as well, I found myself forgetting to do the little things.

I got up to watch the sunset and actually made it out before it started. I probably won't do that again becuase I am not a morning person, however, it was beautiful

Everything is going good! In the beginning of the week I added another challenge about nature. So far that is going ok, I have met my goal everyday but it is very hard to get myself to want to go, but once I am out I love it

This first week started out challenging because of the drastic change in my day to day life. However, now since it's late in the week it's becoming easier and easier to meet my daily challenges.

So far it’s going good. It’s a little challanging getting these habits into my daily routine but hopefully by the end of the week it will be 2nd nature.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Water Say No to Plastic Straws
What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?

I use straws a lot but I recently bought steel straws that I can reuse. I do use a lot of plastic bags when it comes to grocery shopping or anythinf. I have looked into purchasing a reusable bag but have not got around to it yet.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water 5-Minute Showers
Five minute showers are an impressive step toward reducing your water footprint. What is the next step you can take?

Just being cautious about the problem will make an enormous change. I will try to watch myself and make sure i turn off the water or only take cold showers so I don’t waste the time trying to heat it up, ect.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

Everyone taking the time to learn about the water usuage and starting to make a change. Even the smallest amount of effort could go the longest way.
