While water bottles serve an important role in places for health and safety, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. Can you identify the barriers in making this a new habit? How can you set yourself up for success in making this a permanent change?

Typically even when I've used a plastic water bottle I've refilled it to get as many uses as possible. I recently was provided an aluminum water bottle that I leave at work for the sake of not needing to waste plastic bottles or cups. Using this bottle keeps me mindful of drinking water more and soda/energy drinks less.

I have started carpooling with a co-worker who has been a close friend for awhile. Carpooling with a friend encourages us both to be on time. During our travel we are able to catch up with each other personally and not just about work topics.

What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reuseable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to establish this a successful habit?

I keep reusable bags at work and at home so I don't run into this situation very often. If I were to run into a situation where I did not have one I could use a cart to carry the items to my car and then when I get home use my reusable bags to bring my items inside. If I must take a plastic bag to carry my things I recycle them as many times as possible before disposing of them.
