Water

Say No to Plastic Straws

An estimated 71% of seabirds and 30% of turtles have been found with plastics in their stomachs. When they ingest plastic, marine life has a 50% mortality rate. By asking for no straw when placing a drink order, I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) of out of the ocean each day.

Use power strips with on/off switches to easily turn off electronics and chargers that my be contributing to phantom load (using power when not in use).  Turn off lights every time leave room.  Use lower wattage bulbs or dim whenever possible.

I regularly use ziplock bags, but am trying to use glass bowls with plastic snap-on lids more often for lunches or freezer storage.

How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?

Reduce waste by reusing covered glass bowls in reusable lunch bag each day instead of ziplock snack bags.

Michael Pollan states that "it is better to pay the grocer (our edit: or the farmer!) than the doctor." What are your thoughts on this?

You are what you eat (and drink and breath and touch).  It's important to consume a variety of quality foods to be healthy.
