Tiffany's actions
Energy
Adjust the Thermostat
I will adjust my thermostat down 2 degrees from usual when I use the heat, and up 2 degrees when I use air conditioning.
Energy
Online Energy Audit
I will complete an online energy audit of my home, office, or dorm room and identify my next steps for saving energy.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep 2 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.
Energy
Switch to Cold Water
I will switch to washing my clothes in cold water, saving up to 1,600 lbs of C02 over the course of the next year.
Energy
Turn it off
I will keep lights, electronics, and appliances turned off when not using them.
Nature
Support Local Pollinators
At least 30% of crops and 90% of flowering plants rely on pollinators to produce fruit. I will spend 15 minutes researching which plants support local native pollinators and plant some in my yard.

REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Adjust the ThermostatYour utility company is able to tell you your average energy usage. Ask them how your energy usage compares to others in your zipcode, and in your state. What other steps can you take each day to reduce your electricity usage?
Tiffany Halterman 10/03/2018 1:07 PMI was able to determine our energy usage was ranked #15th out of 50 comparable homes in the area. This data was provided by the electric company with #1 being the most efficient. Rather than us AC we have been cooling naturally by opening windows and using ceiling fans to create a nice breeze. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable Water BottleWhile water bottles serve an important role in places for health and safety, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. Can you identify the barriers in making this a new habit? How can you set yourself up for success in making this a permanent change?
Tiffany Halterman 10/03/2018 1:02 PMIt's easier to just grab a new bottle and throw the old one away, more convenient. I bought myself and daughter nice bottles that stay cool, easy to clean and very durable. She prefers carrying around a stylish one opposed to a throw away. I also see it as saving some hard earned cash by refilling rather than buying cases of water.
