It was relatively easy and it really helped to have this prompt to log my challenges and post triumphs!

Shared a really good vegetarian meal with some "hard-core" carnivore family members. Was careful not to over promote the "vegetarian aspect" rather to promote how delicious can also equal healthy!

I have found that implementing small actions into my daily life has been so easy and rewarding. Mindfully planning my day to include bus, bike or walk options, meal prep, just a lot of being aware how much one person can do to make and impact. It is another sly way to get those folks involved that are not really "into" green thinking...lead by example!

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products
What do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than in other places, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?

Eating meat with every meal is part of inherited culture, what most of us learn from our parents. Meat is plentiful and affordable in most of North America, many traditional holidays have meat as a central theme as well. If more people knew the deplorable conditions some of these animals live in, the treatment they endure and the environmental damage that comes from factory farmed meat, less meat would be consumed. It's a leap to really imagine the chain of events that must take place to the final step of ordering a fast-food burger at a drive-up window, but if you do you may reconsider your choice.
