Ann Hawkins 10/24/2018 9:37 AMI have heard that it takes anywhere from 18 to 35 days to make a habit. I'm pretty proud to say that after completing this challenge, I've got a few more habits! Getting out to walk isn't as daunting as I first imagined and I remove clutter before it becomes and issue. Although there still needs to be improvement on the storage situation at home, I'm not bringing "things" in and donating more! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Go for a Daily WalkFresh air and movement are good for our entire being and can help us think more clearly and creatively. How does taking a walk each day affect yourself and/or your work?
Ann Hawkins 10/22/2018 3:41 PMI was presented with an issue that I needed to address by phone with a corporation that provided horrible customer service late last week. I was quite uneasy with the direction that this conversation could take. I decided to take my morning walk and then phone the company when I was halfway through my walk. I found that allowing my mind to collect facts and align my thoughts, I was able to carry out the conversation without the previous animosity and emotion. It was a successful resolution that was assisted by my clear mind and attitude. -
Ann Hawkins 10/10/2018 2:52 PMI didn't realize how much time I was wasting in front of a computer screen! Making mindful decisions about the use of my time has enabled me to tackle some of those tasks that I've been putting off for months. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Disconnect from EmailNotice how much time you were spending checking email away from work and make note of that. Now that you have stepped away from it and have not been checking, what changes are you noticing in your thoughts, use of time, stress and energy levels?
Ann Hawkins 10/09/2018 12:34 PMI have made a point to check my personal email in the morning before I leave from work and my work email only until I leave the office. I have made much better use of my time in the evenings. I am able to complete tasks that I previously put off as I'm not falling down the "rabbit hole" each evening. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Exercise DailyHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
Ann Hawkins 10/05/2018 10:36 AMWalk and talk! Since moving to the area, it has been difficult not communicating with my kids on a regular basis. I've taken to calling one of them as I walk out my front door and talk as I am walking my neighborhood. I'm more connected with them, more in-tune to my surroundings as I walk AND I walk! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity De-Clutter My HomeHow can you prevent yourself from accumulating more things in the future?
Ann Hawkins 10/05/2018 10:33 AMMindful consumption has become my go to when shopping. Five in five. Will I still want it in five minutes, will I still use it in five years? -
Ann Hawkins 10/05/2018 10:31 AMChanged my routine on commute home from "cleaning that inbox" to "cleaning that mind". I put on my headset, listened to some music and almost missed my stop!
