Deirdre Elizabeth's actions
Waste
Advocate For More Food Packaging Options
I will advocate for alternatives to single-use packaging at local grocery stores, markets, at work, or on campus.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep 1 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Waste
Use a Reusable Mug
I will avoid sending 1 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Waste
Use Reusable Bags
I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.
Transportation
Drive Less
I will cut my car trip mileage by only taking necessary trips.

Deirdre Elizabeth Healy 10/24/2018 6:21 AMLove skipping the straw! I took the ferry from New London CT. to Orient Point Long Island and thanked the snack bar for their "skip the straw" poster. Unfortunately the attendant told me he had far more people complain. So let's make it a point to thank organizations that skip the straw. -
Deirdre Elizabeth Healy 10/24/2018 6:16 AMThe best part of the eco challenge are teammates. It is so great to know there are lots of other people who are working towards a healthier planet! -
