Chris's actions
Health
Happiness
I will write down three things every day that I am grateful for, or send one email every day thanking or praising someone.
Health
Support Pollution Reduction
I will spend at least 30 minutes learning about water and air quality issues in my area, how they are impacting human and environmental health, and how I can help.
Water
Say No to Plastic Straws
An estimated 71% of seabirds and 30% of turtles have been found with plastics in their stomachs. When they ingest plastic, marine life has a 50% mortality rate. By asking for no straw when placing a drink order, I will keep 5 plastic straw(s) of out of the ocean each day.
Water
Fix Leaky Faucets
I will fix faucets or report leaky faucets to facilities that have been wasting up to 9 gallons (34 L) of water per faucet every day.
Food
Watch a Documentary about Food Sovereignty
I will watch 1 documentary(ies) about food sovereignty: the right of local peoples to control their own food systems including markets, ecological resources, food cultures and production methods.
Community
Express My Support
I will find out who in my state makes decisions that impact the environment and express my support for more environmental actions.
Simplicity
Less Screen Time
I will replace 15 minute(s) of screen time each day with other activities.
Community
Help Others
I will offer to help 1 person(s) who are in need each day.
Community
Support A Sharing Economy
I will create or support a sharing economy with family, friends, and neighbors.

Chris Kane 10/24/2018 7:28 AMThanks to NWEI for another incredible challenge and thanks so much for all of my amazing team mates -
Chris Kane 10/22/2018 6:26 AMi was scanning through some of the 862 (+/-) teams that are participating this year and realized how hard everyone was working and how we've all made time in our otherwise busy lives to make this challenge a priority...............nice job everyone -
Chris Kane 10/22/2018 6:22 AMwe're close to the conclusion of this year's challenge and i'm really learning a lot - i know that i'll be keeping a lot of these habits throughout the years to come - thanks to NWEI for all you do -
Chris Kane 10/19/2018 2:36 PMI'm so darn proud of our team! You folks are doing an amazing job - I just wanted you all to know that; there's so much negativity -everywhere i look - particularly in politics - it's such a great feeling to see you all working so hard toward positive changes.............. -
Chris Kane 10/17/2018 5:52 AMMy challenges are going exceptionally well. I'm learning more every single day. -
Chris Kane 10/16/2018 3:48 AMThis year's challenge has been very thought provoking for me, not only working on my own, but looking at what others are doing. This is a very powerful group of folks. -
Chris Kane 10/14/2018 9:42 PMi marked my "create your own challenge" completed not because it's accomplished, but because i've done everything i know to achieve my goal; i've found a company who will collect waste from restaurants and homeowners and it's used exclusively for creating fuel - that's the best i could do, i consider that accomplished-
Linda Seals 10/17/2018 7:44 AMAnd your research on this will grow because I am sharing with a wider audience. Hopefully, this will result in additional pick-up locations throughout the county. Fingers crossed :)

Chris Kane 10/14/2018 4:55 PMWe have such a terrific team! Every one of our members brings something different to the table and we always are learning from each other, not to mention that we have a lot of fun doing it. We're over half way there my friends and my greatest wish is that each of us makes these challenges part of our daily lives. -
Chris Kane 10/14/2018 4:19 AMMy personal challenge of finding a recycler for the public for used cooking oil is much more difficult than i ever imagined; luckily for me, Recycle Brevard is also working on this; the challenge definitely won't be completed within the time frame of this program, but it will be done, i'm certain of that, and i'll continue working on this -
Chris Kane 10/13/2018 3:37 AMI'm having a great time watching everyone's progress - not only my fantastic team - but other folks also. I'm always learning something.
