REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicityHow can you use NWEI programs to help mobilize your community to take action toward a sustainable future?
Brian Keechle 10/17/2018 12:21 PMThe NWEI programs are great, because they give you a stepping off point for starting a dialogue and guiding actions to make our communities more sustainable. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealthConsider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What are you finding works for you to be successful in this action?
Brian Keechle 10/05/2018 6:51 AMSince my work schedule is all over the place, i try to keep a balanced exercise and sleep pattern to save myself the grief of getting too little sleep, if it means i spend an additional 10 minutes in traffic in the morning, then the extra 30 minutes of sleep is worth it. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodMichael Pollan states that "it is better to pay the grocer (our edit: or the farmer!) than the doctor." What are your thoughts on this?
Brian Keechle 10/05/2018 6:49 AMEating the right foods can most certainly make a difference when considering visiting the doctor because of high blood pressure or digestive issues. Pay a little more for whole foods, and save on doctor co-pays. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodWhat do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than in other places, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?
Brian Keechle 10/03/2018 10:03 AMI think that the availability and marketing of meats contributes to more people eating meat on our continent. Doing one meatless meal a day is easy, there are lots of great recipes and products that are simple to prepare that cost the same as a meat included meal. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNatureHow do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?
Brian Keechle 10/03/2018 10:02 AMGoing for an AM run with a PM work schedule is a great way to start your day! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodIn North America, up to 65% of food waste happens at the consumer level. Chef Steven Satterfield advocates for utilizing every part of a vegetable. How can you incorporate using an entire vegetable, including the skins, tops, and stalks during your next meal prep?
Brian Keechle 10/03/2018 10:01 AMUsing a crock pot, i made a single dish meal of ribs and rice, we will eat all of this for dinners and lunches throughout the week.
