Tom's actions
Water
Say No to Plastic Straws
An estimated 71% of seabirds and 30% of turtles have been found with plastics in their stomachs. When they ingest plastic, marine life has a 50% mortality rate. By asking for no straw when placing a drink order, I will keep 5 plastic straw(s) of out of the ocean each day.
Transportation
Learn More and Talk to My Friends
Access to public transportation is a social justice issue! I will learn about the need for public transportation in my community and tell 49 friends each day about the issue.
Transportation
Walk Instead
I will walk 5 mile(s) each day instead of driving and avoid sending up to 4.82 lbs of CO2 into Earth's atmosphere.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWater Say No to Plastic StrawsWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
Tom Keen 10/05/2018 6:31 AMI could stop using Dunkin Donuts cups, Starbucks cups or any of the fast food cups straws or plates. Instead i will attempt to use a stainless steel bottle and use reusable straws to be as helpful to the environment as possible

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Walk InsteadHalf of all trips made in the US are three miles or less; 72% of them are driven. Do you feel that this fact applies to you? If so, how might you incorporate more muscle-powered transportation in your daily life?
Tom Keen 10/05/2018 6:30 AMYes i feel as if in America we are less aware of these situations and that we should be actively trying to stop using cars as much as possible due to how bad they are to the environment or we should be looking into other alternatives
-
