This challenege has really helped me be more aware of the little things I can do to make our environment a better place; now that it's over I will continue to do the things I have changed throughout this challenge to help try to make an impact no matter how small. I am happy to have been a part of this experience. :)

My recycling/trash is picked up every Friday but I put it out by the road on Thursday evening; it's cool to see how much I am recycling now that I am making an effort to ensure things are separated; I am happy to try to make a difference by keeping the recyclables out of the landfills.

I love being able to help make a difference; by doing little things I feel like I can make a small but important impact.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Waste Use a Reusable Water Bottle
While water bottles serve an important role in places for health and safety, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. Can you identify the barriers in making this a new habit? How can you set yourself up for success in making this a permanent change?

I use a reusuable water bottle daily when I am at work as well as at home (I always have water next to my bed at night) but by reusing & washing my bottle regularly instead of wasting plastic bottles I feel like I am doing my best to contribute to being eco friendly.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reuseable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to establish this a successful habit?

I try to use reusable bags when I go grocery shopping & If I don't have one or forget it at home I will utilize a cardboard box or carry the items out loosely.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Recycle Everything I Can
What have you learned about what is accepted by local haulers for recycling, what you can drop off or ship to certain places, and what is not recyclable in your area? What is the most difficult part of recycling for you?

I recently moved into a new apartment building & was provided with a large recycling bin by our landlords; I took the time to research online was was/wasn't appropriate to be recycled, & I do my best to make sure I am sorting through things appropriately & recycling them accordingly.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Go Paperless
Reducing your paper mail can be such a freeing action to take -- by reducing what is coming in, you can reduce what is going into the recycling bin too. How does it make you feel? What is the next step you will take to reduce your waste?

I typically utilize paper statements as much as physically possible. Why would I want to waste paper & resources when I can login and view my bills/info electronically. I typically pay my bills online anyways, so wasting the paper is not needed.

I love doing whatever I can within my power to try to save a little energy & help make the world a better place. I am so open to new ideas & things to help reduce my personal footprint/make a difference. even if it's only a small contribution.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Try Carpooling
What are the factors that influence your choice of transportation? These can include things like money, time, and convenience, as well as perceptions of danger or safety.

I carpool everyday to work as a means to get here on time & save money/reduce my carbon footprint by not using as much gas & emitting less toxins into the air
