Happy Friday everyone, let's finish out this EcoChallenge STRONG!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Go Paperless
Reducing your paper mail can be such a freeing action to take -- by reducing what is coming in, you can reduce what is going into the recycling bin too. How does it make you feel? What is the next step you will take to reduce your waste?

In today's world going paperless is a no brainer.  We have become so dependent on technology and it's ability to offer us our information in an instant.  I personally prefer having my information at my fingertips and love the fact that I receive less mail.  Mail today generates a ton of paper with all the advertisements and extra enclosed envelopes.  My next step to reduce my waste is to seek alternative food packaging at the grocery store that is more compostable friendly.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Try Carpooling
What are the factors that influence your choice of transportation? These can include things like money, time, and convenience, as well as perceptions of danger or safety.

My wife and I both work at the hospital and we are fortunate that our schedules align well.  Therefore, we try to carpool as often as we can to save the gas money, reduce our emissions and the wear and tear on our vehicles.  Also it is an extra bonus to have a few extra minutes in the morning to chat.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Needs Vs. Wants
How is creativity necessary for practicing simplicity?

Being creative allows you to see the beauty and simplicity in everyday things.  Creativity allows us to be imaginative and interact with our world in a way that is fun and easy.

I find that I am able to taste, enjoy and feel nourished!  It feels good to feel full prior to being done eating.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Work-Life Balance
Is practicing work-life balance difficult to do? How does it feel when you first begin? How does this feel for you after 21 days?

Work Life balance is not challenging for me because I work for the Wellness department at work.  It is a priority for us and it is refreshing to continue to be mindful of this month during the EcoChallenge
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature Join An Outdoor Project
How well do you know the area you live in? Is a deep knowledge of your surroundings -- known as a 'sense of place' -- important to you? If so, why?

My natural environment is extremely important to me.  I live in Vermont and am constantly outside hiking and adhering to the leave no trace principles to ensure that our beautiful environment is around for many generations to come.
