I've started getting on and off at a different transit stop a little farther away from my usual.  I'm enjoying the new sights, getting a little more exercise, and appreciating the transportation system that connects our city.

Today our office watched a video of a recent City Club Portland discussion regarding native communities and water rights.  Environmental health affects us all, but even more so those who depend on the natural resources for their direct food source.

Morning walk deep thoughts: we live in such a disposable society.  Even the simple act of caring for my teeth creates waste. Toothbrush. Toothpaste tube. Floss.  Packaging. I'm now researching more sustainable options!

Our team is participating in the Great Oregon Shakeout today, a drill raising awareness of earthquake preparedness.  For me this relates to sustainability because it's all about how we can sustain our communities during and after a crisis.

Reflection Question: How does food sovereignty address the complex agrarian transition to modern food systems?

Food sovereignty could create a food system that benefits people and the environment rather than make profits for multinational corporations.  Food and nutrition should not be governed by big business.  I am looking forward to learning more about this important issue.
