Health
Happiness
I will write down three things every day that I am grateful for, or send one email every day thanking or praising someone.
Health
Learn About Local Environmental Justice Concerns
I will spend 15 minutes researching environmental justice concerns in my region, their causes, and local initiatives to address these concerns.
Health
Healthy Sleep
Effectively working for sustainability requires self care! I will commit to getting 15 more minute(s) of sleep each night to achieve at least 7 hours per night.
Water
Say No to Plastic Straws
An estimated 71% of seabirds and 30% of turtles have been found with plastics in their stomachs. When they ingest plastic, marine life has a 50% mortality rate. By asking for no straw when placing a drink order, I will keep 2 plastic straw(s) of out of the ocean each day.

Reflection QuestionWater Say No to Plastic StrawsWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
Marty Levin 10/09/2018 3:10 PMSingle use plastic bags seem to multiply in my environment day by day. I have cloth bags in my car so I don't have to use the single use plastic bags and I don't always remember to bring them with me to the stores I frequent. I often remember to refuse a plastic bag when I'm not distracted.-

Reflection QuestionHealth Healthy SleepConsider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What are you finding works for you to be successful in this action?
Marty Levin 10/09/2018 3:08 PMI am challenged with getting enough sleep. Winding down earlier in the night so that I am not tempted by my electronic devices would be one way to get more sleep. Eliminating snack foods close to bedtime would also be helpful. This is clearly a work in progress for me. -
Reflection QuestionFood Reduce Animal ProductsWhat do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than in other places, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?
Marty Levin 10/09/2018 3:04 PMI think it is matter of habit and education. As more people learn about the negative health impacts of eating animal fat, and the health benefits of eating a plant based diet, things will begin to change. Education and experience eating healthy food choices will help people begin to shift their diets.
