    Food Weekly Meal Planning
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?

The amount of food waste per family is not surprising due to the busy lives we all lead.  I find that I waste food when I buy food to prepare during the weekend but don't have time to cook the day a specific meal was planned.  My goal is to better use leftovers and cook a couple of fewer days during the week but in larger amounts.  I would rather use money wasted on food for a vacation or retirement savings so I'll keep that the next time I plan my weekly grocery shopping.
