REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Weekly Meal PlanningAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?
Heather Lorenz 10/23/2018 9:59 AMThe amount of food waste per family is not surprising due to the busy lives we all lead. I find that I waste food when I buy food to prepare during the weekend but don't have time to cook the day a specific meal was planned. My goal is to better use leftovers and cook a couple of fewer days during the week but in larger amounts. I would rather use money wasted on food for a vacation or retirement savings so I'll keep that the next time I plan my weekly grocery shopping.
