Kenneth's actions

Waste

Use Reusable Bags

I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.

DAILY ACTIONS

Waste

Reduce Single-Use Disposables

Historically, marginalized and low-income communities live closer to landfills, contributing to a multitude of health problems. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate.

COMPLETED 9
DAILY ACTIONS

Waste

Skip the Straw

Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.

COMPLETED 9
DAILY ACTIONS

Waste

Use a Reusable Water Bottle

I will keep 3 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.

DAILY ACTIONS

Waste

Use a Reusable Mug

I will avoid sending 2 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.

It's great to use less energy and less waste.  The problem relies on the environment , community and society. There are many things that we don't need for living.  We need to educate our young generation to have the right mindset.  Then eventually we can achieve the eco goal.

    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reuseable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to establish this a successful habit?

It is easy for anyone who lives in a house and no shopping bags with you while shopping.  Just dump everything from the shopping cart to take it home.  Another way is to have some bags always with you in the car.  The car should sense how many shopping bags in the car (with some AI tracking device) before it allows you to start the car.  In this case there will always be shopping bags in the car.  For others living in an apartment, the condo management should provide some carts for residents to take their stuff from their cars to their units.  Using the resident's entrance card, they can check out the cart and ensure the cart will be back in the same spot for other residents to re-use.

    Waste Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Bringing your own bags and containers to the grocery store, and even to restaurants for leftovers, are a couple of ways to reduce your waste. What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?

I usually use plastic straw for cold drinks.  Now I don't really have to.  Just open the lid and drink.
