Genevieve MELLE 10/22/2018 7:39 AMi have switched all washing in cold water, does not seem to make any difference in the quality of the cleaning. -
Genevieve MELLE 10/22/2018 7:31 AMGot my extra 15 minutes of sleep, was aiming for 30 minutes but hard to do. I buy both locally roasted coffee and bread produced in Vermont, cage free eggs from Vermont farm. Little actions matter -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Choose LED BulbsChanging lightbulbs is an excellent first step toward energy efficiency! In what other ways can you exercise your civic duty to protect the environment and reduce carbon emissions?
Genevieve MELLE 10/22/2018 7:28 AMgot 2 LED bulbs and replacing bedroom overhead bulbs!!!! that simple :) -
Genevieve MELLE 10/18/2018 12:28 PMI usually try to do a long walk either on Saturday or Sundays, 1 hour is usual, but sometimes less if rainy -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Weekly Meal PlanningAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?
Genevieve MELLE 10/18/2018 11:48 AMStill only "thinking" about doing this, I really have to do it before the end of this challenge! -
Genevieve MELLE 10/18/2018 11:45 AMI chose this challenge because I strongly believe that little actions add up faster than one big one, the more people can do little things everyday, the better the world will be. This type of challenge also helps me personally see that within my organization, many people care enough to take a minimum of time to participate and join a global cause. Love it! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Healthy SleepConsider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What are you finding works for you to be successful in this action?
Genevieve MELLE 10/18/2018 11:28 AMI am slowly getting used to no digital reading or cell phone/computer use and that helps me wind down to get to sleep faster and more readily -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Zero-Waste CookingIn North America, up to 65% of food waste happens at the consumer level. Chef Steven Satterfield advocates for utilizing every part of a vegetable. How can you incorporate using an entire vegetable, including the skins, tops, and stalks during your next meal prep?
Genevieve MELLE 10/18/2018 11:23 AMMost of the time, i wash the entire vegetable and keep the stalks or leaves not usable in the meal, peels.etc to make vegetable broth at the end of the week for the upcoming week's soups. If not usable that week, I freeze it in reused yogurt pots.

REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Switch to Cold WaterWhat do you plan to do with the money you save from making more energy efficient choices?
Genevieve MELLE 10/18/2018 11:10 AM
I am now washing all my clothes in cold water and using less heat for my showers, brrrr..This is just a few pennies a day but will allow for less energy use.
