A lot of reading on recycling processes, is amazing how many things we can recycle, helping our planet to stay safe. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Recycle Everything I CanWhat have you learned about what is accepted by local haulers for recycling, what you can drop off or ship to certain places, and what is not recyclable in your area? What is the most difficult part of recycling for you?
Jose F Mendez 10/17/2018 5:35 AMWhat I learned is that in my community we do not have a recycle program either the government have one, no even a 10% of recycling. We need to learn why we need to recycle and how. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWater Eco-friendly GardeningWhat are the most prominent water concerns in your area? Examples include drought, flooding, pollution, access, security, and privatization.
Jose F Mendez 10/17/2018 5:23 AMI think that water pollution and water access are my main concerns. You need access to clean and pure water. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Advocate For More Food Packaging OptionsWhat concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.
Jose F Mendez 10/17/2018 5:18 AMWe are using to many plastic containers, bags, burning to much petroleum , we generate a lot of waste every day which affect costly the planet. We need to reevaluate our way of life. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Plant an Herb GardenConsider the ways you can garden: a plot of land? a patio container? hanging basket? windowsill gardens? What would work best for your living situation and lifestyle?
Jose F Mendez 10/17/2018 5:03 AMI can use a combination of patio container and hanging baskets since I have a small piece of land. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Choose Organic IngredientsCan organic farming feed the world? Which side of the argument do you fall on? Why?
Jose F Mendez 10/17/2018 4:59 AMYes, organic farming can feed the world. But we need a lot to learn and change the way we see agriculture. We need to focus on quality not quantity. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable Water BottleWhile water bottles serve an important role in places for health and safety, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. Can you identify the barriers in making this a new habit? How can you set yourself up for success in making this a permanent change?
Jose F Mendez 10/17/2018 4:52 AMIt probably takes some time before I get use to reduce the use of water bottles but I have to move out of the comfort zone. I will start using gallon containers instead of small bottles, that way I will reduced a lot of plastic bottles. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Meet My Local FarmersWhen you know who produces your food, you are connecting personally to your complex regional food system. What are the advantages of knowing who produces your food and where it comes from? Do you think this might enable someone to advocate for a better quality of life for those who produce their food, both near and far?
Jose F Mendez 10/17/2018 4:43 AMThe advantages of knowing were your food comes from is that you will know the process of planting, growing, collecting and handling the food you will eat.
If you produce your own food for sure you will be eating the best products, fresh and free of contaminants. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Choose LED BulbsChanging lightbulbs is an excellent first step toward energy efficiency! In what other ways can you exercise your civic duty to protect the environment and reduce carbon emissions?
Jose F Mendez 10/17/2018 4:35 AM
I can start using solar energy instead of gasoline, diesel or carbon generated electricity. I can change my car to an electric one.
