  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reuseable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to establish this a successful habit?

When shopping for produce I've taken to know using a small plastic bag when possible. How ever I have not been as diligent about using my reusable bag since TN has not yet banned plastic bags like CA. I've been trying to be more conscious of this.

    Waste Skip the Straw
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?

I've recently been trying to use more reusable containers in lieu of plastic baggies when packing my lunch, as well as making my own salad dressing and storing them in mason jars. I also need to start using my reusable shopping bag instead of getting the plastic ones.

I think writing down what I am grateful for it immediately causes me to think more positively, which in turn leads me to be friendlier and more willing to help others in need of help.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Waste Use a Reusable Water Bottle
While water bottles serve an important role in places for health and safety, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. Can you identify the barriers in making this a new habit? How can you set yourself up for success in making this a permanent change?

I've been using a reusable water bottle for a couple of years, and prefer it since it keeps my water cold. But it also allows me to better track how much water I'm drinking, the hardest habit I think is going to break is buying a bottle of water when I forget my water bottle, I'm also notoriously bad for not drinking enough water on the weekends when I am running around or laying around at home. I can make it part of my habit on the weekend to fill my water bottle and grab it when I leave the house.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use a Reusable Mug
Maybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reuseable one but it's just hard to make the switch. Think about what stands in your way of making this a habit. By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?

I already preferred using a reusable cup, since it kept my coffee warmer for longer, which is great for me since I tend to put my coffee down and forget about it. Knowing the impact really does make me feel better about this decision, and I will be more likely to continue this habit.
