Incorporating more veggies into my diet has been great! I've had to come up with some sneaky ways to get the kiddo to eat them though. : )
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water Install a Low-Flow Showerhead
How can your region/household prepare for changing water situations in order to become more resilient?

I think a big one for my household is to make sure we turn our automatic sprinklers off when they're not needed. It's hard to remember to go turn them off for the day when it's raining out, but it would make a big difference.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Waste Use a Reusable Water Bottle
While water bottles serve an important role in places for health and safety, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. Can you identify the barriers in making this a new habit? How can you set yourself up for success in making this a permanent change?

Biggest barrier is just to remember to bring my reusable bottle out with me when we go to run errands. I actually need to purchase myself another one so I have one to leave at work and one for at home and when I'm out and about.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Car Share
Take a moment to think of places you frequent often (work, grocery store, natural areas). Could you choose one or two days a week to schedule driving with a friend, neighbor or co-worker to these places?

We just moved to a new neighborhood so this might be a bit of a challenge, but I'm sure I could a little. We are already reducing our driving by ridesharing to get our daughter and the neighbor's daughter to school and back.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use a Reusable Mug
Maybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reuseable one but it's just hard to make the switch. Think about what stands in your way of making this a habit. By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?

It's a good feeling to know that I'm making an impact, even if it just a small one.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water Fix Leaky Faucets
Fixing leaky faucets is one of the tasks that we can easily put off until later. Good job on completing this action! How will you use the momentum from completing this action to increase your water efficiency?

This is hard one, because not only do I have to get myself into the habit of doing these kinds of things, I have to get the rest of the family into the habit as well. I'd like us to minimize our shower times, as well as making sure we switch laundry into the dryer right away to make sure we don't have to rerun the washer.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health More Fruits and Veggies
What do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other places, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How can we start shifting from a meat-focused food culture to a more plant-based one?

Most people have gotten so busy that nobody gardens anymore. I think more people getting into gardening and growing their own veggies would probably help this a little. It's also a great way to relax and de-stress.

I've also really enjoyed the nightly walks with my family, it's nice to spend some quality time together outside of the house.

Great! it's been a great reminder for me to make sure I'm using reusable mugs and bottles instead of disposable!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Have a Garage Sale
Building community is good for your soul and fun to do! What were some of the positive outcomes that came out of your group garage sale?

Getting rid of a bunch of clutter, and turning it into extra cash!
