Before you started this challenge, did you think you were 'addicted' to sugar? How do you feel now?

While I've only been at this for a day, I can already tell you that I am addicted to sugar. Getting off of it is going to be a struggle, but I think it will be worth it for my health. My dentist will be happy too LOL

Consider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What are you finding works for you to be successful in this action?

I get about 5 hours of sleep per night most days due to working nights at the theater and afternoons at my other job. I would love it if I could get on a set sleeping scedule, but I have such a hard time getting to bed after closing the theater around 1 in the morning. Most days I can't get to sleep until about 4am. Ideally, I would like to get to bed around 10 or 11 and get up at the same time everyday.

Since doing this challenge, I have been trying to get to bed earlier even on the days that I close. It really does make a difference when I get more sleep. Putting my phone across the room where I can't reach it in bed has been successful for me. That way, I can relax and actually sleep instead of staring at my phone for hours looking at memes.

What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?

I regularly use paper cups and plastic straws not only when I'm out, but even when I'm at home - bad, I know! I am also guilty of using plastic baggies and bags as well on the daily. Some great substitutes that I could replace these single-use items with are pasta straws, water bottles/thermoses, reusable grocery bags and ceramic to-go containers. I work at a theater, and we actually get questions all the time asking if we have pasta straws or recycling areas. While lots of places unfortunately don't carry these sustainable items or have these options, I do hope that they will be more readily available in the future. Go Green!

How can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?

Exercising outside is a good way to get in your nature time for the day. Of course, living in Oregon it's a little harder to spend time outside when its raining all the time, but whenever I can get outside, I'm there!

Working out with friends is the perfect way to incorporate them into your day. Also a great motivator!

I've discovered that if I have my rain outfit ready to go, I kind of groove on going outside in the rain even if it is really cold and stormy.  For me, a rain outfit includes warm wool socks, rubber boots or my waterproof shoes (depending on how rainy or muddy my walk will be), a warm down jacket, a waterproof outer jacket, a soft wool scarf if it is windy or really cold, gloves, and my wool cap with earflaps.  With all this gear waiting by my backdoor, ready to go, I can wrap myself in my own personal cocoon and enjoy the out of doors regardless of the weather.  I often feel rather smug having the outdoor to myself.

    Food Weekly Meal Planning
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?

That's a lot of food waste! I have to admit, I have made it a habit of buying groceries that I intend to eat, but end up going out to eat instead. However, I am trying to be more conscious of what I buy and trying to stay away from eating food out.

If I could save that much money from eliminating food waste, I would put it towards my student loans. Or let's be honest, a vacation to Disney!  Let the journey begin!
