virginia's actions
Simplicity
Needs Vs. Wants
I will adopt a "Needs Vs. Wants" approach and only buy things I need.
Waste
Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Historically, marginalized and low-income communities live closer to landfills, contributing to a multitude of health problems. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate.
Nature
Go for a Daily Walk
I will take a 30-minute walk outside each day.
Food
Buy From a Farmers Market
I will purchase produce and meat from a local farmers market or food co-op.
Waste
Recycle Everything I Can
Contamination prevents what is recyclable from being recycled. I will spend 45 minutes researching and recycling all materials that are accepted by local haulers or drop stations in my community.
Food
Weekly Meal Planning
I will reduce food waste and save money by planning a weekly menu, only buying the ingredients I need.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Go for a Daily WalkHow do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?
virginia Munson 10/04/2018 12:33 PMYou see more around you, you hear the birds, you see the light coming through the trees, you see the rabbits that move across your path. You feel more apart of it, you and the environment are moving at the same pace, and it makes you feel more connected to it. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Buy From a Farmers MarketWhat is one food choice that you make, or could make, that would do more good and less harm?
virginia Munson 10/04/2018 12:31 PMOnly buying food that i need to cook instead of buying food in bulk helps to reduce waste and keeps our fridge so much cleaner. We will hopefully have less leftovers that go bad in a week.
