Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 2 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.

Bailey Nehrkorn 10/14/2018 3:21 PMMy challenge is still going well. I am continuing to get used to making my own coffee instead of buying some from on campus and it's really nice to save the extra dollars. -
Bailey Nehrkorn 10/08/2018 10:07 AMMy challenge is going well. I have noticed that I save about 15 dollars a week by making my own coffee, and have also been keeping at least 3-4 straws out of landfills by using a reusable coffee mug. It is becoming easier to not buy coffee from places on campus the longer I do this challenge. -
Bailey Nehrkorn 10/04/2018 9:59 AMI have been using a reusable thermos for my coffee instead of purchasing it which is not only reducing my plastic use, but also saving me money. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Skip the StrawHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?
Bailey Nehrkorn 10/04/2018 9:58 AMI can do simple things such as wearing my jeans more than once before washing them, riding my bike to school instead of driving, and limiting my use of plastic by using reusable water bottles. I do already try to be eco-friendly, but I plan on riding my bike to school instead of driving more often or whenever it's nice out.
