My challenge are all going well. The positive shift is something that everyone needs to incorporate into their daily routine.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste
Our ability to recycle certain things ebbs and flows based upon many factors. Luckily there are places that accept uncommon things to recycle or dispose of in a less harmful way. What did you find when looking for places to recycle items that can't be recycled in your curbside bin?

I will be needing a place to dispose of old tires on their wheels so I looked for tire recycling places near me. I was pleasantly surprised that Hainesport has a place.
Here is the link for it:  http://www.americyclenj.com/

What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?

I'm doing very good in this category. Once you start it's like second nature.

Along with our many students and staff that joined the EcoChallenge, I am very excited to be a part of Hainesport's team.

In the past, I was instrumental in our school's involvement in a plastic bag recycling project which was coordinated by our county. It was very rewarding knowing that what was recycled by our school would be made into Trax decking material.
I look forward to seeing the results of this challenge at the end of October.
