Christina's actions
Health
Eliminate Toxic Plastics
I will avoid buying toxic plastics - including polycarbonate, polystyrene and polyvinyl - and instead replace them with bioplastic or durable options.
Health
Happiness
I will write down three things every day that I am grateful for, or send one email every day thanking or praising someone.
Simplicity
Work-Life Balance
I will not work more than 8 hour days each day to practice work-life balance.
Waste
Find Local Recycling Depots
I will spend at least 10 minutes finding out where to recycle the recyclable items that I can't put in my curbside bin.
Nature
Practice Gratitude for Earth
I will spend 15 minute(s) each day outside, practicing gratitude (prayer, meditation, journaling, etc.) for Earth and the nature surrounding me.
Health
More Fruits and Veggies
I will eat a heart healthy diet by adding 2 cup(s) of fruits and vegetables each day to achieve at least 4 cups per day.
Participant Feed

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Find Local Recycling DepotsOur ability to recycle certain things ebbs and flows based upon many factors. Luckily there are places that accept uncommon things to recycle or dispose of in a less harmful way. What did you find when looking for places to recycle items that can't be recycled in your curbside bin?
Christina Oleykowski 10/11/2018 6:18 AMI will be needing a place to dispose of old tires on their wheels so I looked for tire recycling places near me. I was pleasantly surprised that Hainesport has a place.

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Eliminate Toxic PlasticsWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
Christina Oleykowski 10/08/2018 3:21 PMI'm doing very good in this category. Once you start it's like second nature. -
Christina Oleykowski 10/08/2018 3:08 PMBe aware of dripping faucets and lawn hoses. Big water thieves!!!! -
Christina Oleykowski 10/08/2018 2:43 PMI must be honest, it was a bit hard to remember to check in this weekend. Better next one!!! -
Christina Oleykowski 10/02/2018 1:22 PMAlong with our many students and staff that joined the EcoChallenge, I am very excited to be a part of Hainesport's team.
In the past, I was instrumental in our school's involvement in a plastic bag recycling project which was coordinated by our county. It was very rewarding knowing that what was recycled by our school would be made into Trax decking material.
I look forward to seeing the results of this challenge at the end of October. -
Christina Oleykowski 10/02/2018 6:55 AMOur Hainesport Science students are very enthused about participating in the Eco Challenge.
