Create Your Own Action
My Challenge is Green Planet
Reduced Pollution. Going green helps the environment by reducing the amount of pollution that enters the soil, water and air. By using alternative energy sources and avoiding the burning of fossil fuels, recycling and reducing waste and driving more efficiently, fewer pollutants are released into the environment.
Health
Support Pollution Reduction
I will spend at least 1 minutes learning about water and air quality issues in my area, how they are impacting human and environmental health, and how I can help.
Transportation
Car Share
I will sign up for a car-sharing service, or organize car sharing with my neighbors, to cut down on the number of vehicles on the road.
Waste
Carry my Trash
I will carry all of my unrecyclable, non-compostable trash with me to raise my awareness of how much I send to the landfill.
Water
Install Greywater Catchment
I will install a greywater catchment system in my home.
Energy
Choose Clean/Renewable Energy
I will sign up for my utility company's clean/renewable energy option.
Nature
Organize a Course
I will organize one of NWEI's discussion courses, such as 'Reconnecting with Earth', with my family, friends, coworkers, or classmates.
Health
Eliminate Toxic Plastics
I will avoid buying toxic plastics - including polycarbonate, polystyrene and polyvinyl - and instead replace them with bioplastic or durable options.
Water
Insulate Water Pipes and Water Heater
I will avoid wasting water while waiting for the shower or sink to heat up.
Food
Zero-Waste Cooking
I will cook 5 meal(s) with zero-waste each day
Waste
Launch a Recycling Program
I will start a recycling program at my workplace or school. If a recycling program exists, I will advocate for ways to improve and expand it.
Nature
Forage for My Food
I will use the 'Learn More' resources below to find where I can forage for my own food locally.
Food
Organize a Course
I will organize one of NWEI's discussion courses on food sustainability, 'Menu for the Future' or 'Hungry for Change', with my family, friends, coworkers, or classmates.
Simplicity
Buy Used Clothes
I will spend 5 minutes learning about the perils of fast fashion and will buy my clothes at second-hand stores when I shop.
Transportation
Improve a Bus Stop
I will improve a bus stop in my neighborhood by posting the stop schedule, adding seating or shelter, adding art or flowers, picking up litter, or some other small improvement.
Community
Support Businesses Owned by People of Color
Racial inequity is a sustainability problem. I will support businesses owned by people of color in my community whenever I shop.
Participant Feed

Buddhi Prakash Jangid 10/24/2018 12:49 AMI have chose challenges that I know I will do because I want to help my Green Planet Team get 1st place in this thing. -
Buddhi Prakash Jangid 10/23/2018 1:24 AMnew behavior becomes automatic when you make it a habit -

REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Support Businesses Owned by People of ColorKeen Independent Research Foundation conducted a recent study that highlights the disparities in the availability of city contracts and loans to businesses, and how this disparity correlates to owners as people of color. The study showed that Minority businesses enterprises (MBEs) are more likely to have difficulties in receiving loans or city contracts. In what ways can you address systemic racism?
Buddhi Prakash Jangid 10/20/2018 10:03 PMNow try to see what the minority commission's duty is. Among them are the evaluation of the progress of minority society, see the implementation of the laws that are to be made in this regard. Suggesting the State Government for the benefit of minorities. If anybody has said anything against acts of discrimination or action against the minorities then take appropriate action against harassment. Protecting the rights of minorities and their human rights. Give suggestions to the Central Government from time to time. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWater Insulate Water Pipes and Water HeaterHow do you think climate change will affect your region’s water supply? Think about the effects of weather, storms, salinity, and sea level rise, among other changes. How can you find out more about climate change’s impact to your region's water?
Buddhi Prakash Jangid 10/20/2018 9:43 PMWater resources are important to both society and ecosystems. We depend on a reliable, clean supply of drinking water to sustain our health. We also need water for agriculture, energy production, navigation, recreation, and manufacturing. Many of these uses put pressure on water resources, stresses that are likely to be exacerbated by climate change. -
Buddhi Prakash Jangid 10/20/2018 9:41 PMPlants are living organisms that can live on land or water. They have many different forms such as huge trees, others are herbs or some have bushy form. The basic food for all organisms is produced by green plants. Plants help in maintaining oxygen balance, the most important gas that enable us to breathe Humans directly or indirectly depend on plants for several of their needs. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Forage for My FoodAmongst the motivations for foraging are: a source of food; means of income; connecting with nature; cultural tradition; or transmitting "local ecological knowledge, and a means for stewarding local and native plant populations" (McLain et al. 2012, 13). Which of these would be your chief motivation and why?
Buddhi Prakash Jangid 10/20/2018 12:14 AMhat is the main purpose of biodiversity conservation today? To protect individual species, preserve habitat and ecosystems, and make certain human neighbors benefit. Inside the leaves of plants, photosynthesis take place -
Buddhi Prakash Jangid 10/20/2018 12:05 AMBetter urban planning can help prevent human exposure to harmful air pollutants. Good quality public transport, for example, can help reduce fossil fuel emissions as well as improve safety for children within cities -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Buy Used ClothesDo people with economic privilege have a responsibility to consume and own less? How can the concept of "reduce" be presented to those who may be struggling to have enough food, clothes, shelter?
Buddhi Prakash Jangid 10/18/2018 3:29 PMWidespread hunger and malnutrition in a world of plentiful food implies that extreme poverty is the root cause of undernourishment. It is not always understood, however, that hunger and malnutrition (including micronutrient deficiencies) are in turn major causes of poverty. They affect the ability of individuals to escape poverty in several ways -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Improve a Bus StopHow can you advocate for transportation systems which minimize environmental impact while also meeting human needs?
Buddhi Prakash Jangid 10/18/2018 3:26 PMSustainability is the condition in which human needs are met in such a way that a human population can survive indefinitely. Sustainability is a key goal of environmental
