Savannah 's actions
Energy
Switch to Cold Water
I will switch to washing my clothes in cold water, saving up to 1,600 lbs of C02 over the course of the next year.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Waste
Use Reusable Bags
I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.
Simplicity
Less Screen Time
I will replace 30 minute(s) of screen time each day with other activities.
Water
5-Minute Showers
I will save up to 20 gallons (75 L) of water each day by taking 5-minute showers.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWater 5-Minute ShowersFive minute showers are an impressive step toward reducing your water footprint. What is the next step you can take?
Savannah Pearson 10/09/2018 12:59 PMI could try turning the shower off between needing to rinse. I can also keep a pitcher or cold water in my fridge so I don’t have to let water run to get cold. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Less Screen TimeWhat did you notice in implementing this challenge? Was it hard to choose other activities over screen time? How did you decide to spend your time?
Savannah Pearson 10/09/2018 12:58 PMI chose to read today instead of watching tv. I really was glad I did this because it reminded of how much I enjoy reading and helped me to take a break from social media. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use Reusable BagsWhat do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reuseable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to establish this a successful habit?
Savannah Pearson 10/04/2018 7:35 AMWhen I don’t remember reusable bags I try to carry everything with my hands. If this is not possible I get paper instead of plastic because I can recycle it and it takes less time to decompose. I also try and fit as much into each bag as possible so I have to use less. It would be helpful if I kept a supply of reusable bags in my car, that way I would never forget them.
