Ever since I had joined 2018 eco-challenge and have set these goals, i felt myself continuously wanting to better the world and limit resources that may or may not be necessary, and or are considered wasteful
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Zero-Waste Cooking
In North America, up to 65% of food waste happens at the consumer level. Chef Steven Satterfield advocates for utilizing every part of a vegetable. How can you incorporate using an entire vegetable, including the skins, tops, and stalks during your next meal prep?

You can do this by maybe blending the skins, tops and stalks and then putting it in your food. My mom does this when she wants me to taste a certain vegetable but not really bite into it while im eating. Its very effective.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

How can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?

I can incorporate other personal values into my exercise routine by exercising with friends and doing exercising that are fun and distract me from how tiresome they can be. Teamwork gets work more done, especially if we set a goal and make a sort of schedule/plan on how to reach it
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

My challenges have been going good in that it really inspires me to make a change and better the world not only for me but my friends, family and maybe any future kids i have.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Happiness
How does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?

Practicing gratitude can keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world because the nicer you are to people, the easier it is to work with them in order for you to get things done with them. Such as recycle, make projects on trying to fix/save the world, etc.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Waste Use a Reusable Water Bottle
While water bottles serve an important role in places for health and safety, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. Can you identify the barriers in making this a new habit? How can you set yourself up for success in making this a permanent change?

The barriers in making this a new habit is that many forget or don't want to continuously fill up their own water bottles in the morning before they leave where they have to go. Another barrier is that things such as Arizona's (that are also plastic) cost the same as a water bottle. They are more preferred since it is bigger and what people may consider as more appetizing. You can set yourself up for success by preparing a water filter at home that you can use to pour your water in your reusable water bottle in the morning.
