You move at a slower pace and become more aware of things. By walking you are exposed to all the elements, you hear the sounds of your neighborhood (birds, kids, construction...), smell (the flowers in gardens and/or the city firth and trash) and feel (wind, fog, sun etc ..) where you are. Unlike traveling in a vehicle where you are in your own bubble: maybe listening to music, protected from weather and smells and passing by things without noticing them since you need to concentrate on the road ahead.
