    Transportation Go by Bike
How do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?

I am much more likely to run into a friend or see something happening on campus when I ride my bike over driving. I usually enjoy my bike ride to campus more than I do my drive. I am forced to drive many days throughout the week due to my off-campus job that I work in between classes. I do want to get back into the habit of riding my bike as much as possible again, especially while we still have nice weather.

    Transportation Use Public Transit
The US spends roughly 20% of its federal budget on defense. In contrast, 2% goes to education, 20% goes to social security and 3% goes to transportation infrastructure. Do these numbers surprise you at all? Why or why not?

Yes, they do. It's interesting to see where our priorities are, though. Education is one of the most important ways to improve a country, yet we are spending so much on violence. Social security is important, but so is people's time and energy spent on transportation. It would be better for our country, the environment, and our people if we were able to spend more on helping our public transportation infrastructure.
