Czarinna Mae Posadas 10/24/2018 2:42 PMAfter this October EcoChallenge, it was nice to reflect and see myself getting into more sustainable habits. I'm hoping to continue to be sustainable to help shape my lifestyle and the environment. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Car ShareTake a moment to think of places you frequent often (work, grocery store, natural areas). Could you choose one or two days a week to schedule driving with a friend, neighbor or co-worker to these places?
Czarinna Mae Posadas 10/19/2018 9:53 AMI believe it would be possible to choose 1-2 days to schedule driving with a friend or co-worker to certain places. I know some of my co-workers are also my neighbors so it'd be possible to drive to work or do some grocery shopping together. -
Czarinna Mae Posadas 10/08/2018 8:02 PMI've been using public transit more often now instead of driving everywhere. Sounds like a small change, but it's better than nothing! I just noticed I was saving more money too, so it's a win-win situation. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use Reusable BagsWhat do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reuseable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to establish this a successful habit?
Czarinna Mae Posadas 10/07/2018 5:31 PMI'd typically carry things in my hands or in a cart if I have too much to carry. A system that could help me would bringing my own reusable bag whenever I do my groceries. Almost every store I've been to has reusable bags being sold and if I buy my own, then this would help benefit me and the Earth. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable Water BottleWhile water bottles serve an important role in places for health and safety, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. Can you identify the barriers in making this a new habit? How can you set yourself up for success in making this a permanent change?
Czarinna Mae Posadas 10/07/2018 5:28 PMI know of some people who aren't a fan of carrying a bottle around so they would always buy a plastic bottle of water and throw it away when he/she is done, which I think could be a barrier. To set myself and others for success, we should be able to educate others on the importance of reducing the use of plastic bottles because it leads to negative impacts on the Earth. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Carry my TrashWhat one thing could you do right away to reduce your waste?
Czarinna Mae Posadas 10/07/2018 5:24 PMI could switch to buying from locally grown food or food from small businesses to help me reduce my waste. I'd say this is something I could do right away because most of my food is processed foods which means that it produces a lot of waste. Switching to buying food from small businesses or locally would help me reduce my waste right away. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Go PaperlessReducing your paper mail can be such a freeing action to take -- by reducing what is coming in, you can reduce what is going into the recycling bin too. How does it make you feel? What is the next step you will take to reduce your waste?
Czarinna Mae Posadas 10/05/2018 8:38 PMI've come from a small island where opting for paperless billing wasn't an option back then, so reducing my paper mail did help benefit me as much as it helped benefit the Earth. Despite how it's just a small change, I did feel like I was able to make a positive change in my lifestyle. As for my next step to reduce my waste, I could probably opt out of textbooks and just use ebooks when they're available to me to save paper.
