  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Find Local Recycling Depots
Our ability to recycle certain things ebbs and flows based upon many factors. Luckily there are places that accept uncommon things to recycle or dispose of in a less harmful way. What did you find when looking for places to recycle items that can't be recycled in your curbside bin?

I did find that stores I go to a lot, like Target, collect soft plastics - not just grocery bags, but other soft plastics like bread bags, produce bags, and even zip-lock bags. It would be relatively easily for me to take those items to a recycling bin.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Join a Local CSA
Dependable fresh food, better prices (cutting out carbon-heavy supply chain and grocery stores), supporting local farmers and building resilient communities are just a few benefits of local food systems. Which of these benefits (or others not listed here) inspire you the most?

I'm really looking forward to having seasonal, fresh produce that will inspire me to cook more and try different dishes. I love the idea of getting a variety depending on the season, and I'm hoping to get some produce I haven't cooked with before. The CSA I found also has a blog with recipes that I'm looking forward to trying!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

Exploring a new hiking trail gave me a new appreciation for the part of Phoenix where I live. We have so many beautiful mountains and buttes!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Go Paperless
Reducing your paper mail can be such a freeing action to take -- by reducing what is coming in, you can reduce what is going into the recycling bin too. How does it make you feel? What is the next step you will take to reduce your waste?

It feels really good to know I'm not going to have a ton of paper bills in the mail anymore! I'm going to be more diligent about getting myself off mailing lists and paying past due bills so that I can reduce my paper mail even more.
