    I practice self care through exercising regularly, eating whole foods, and taking time to be with myself in nature or by taking a few minutes each day to mediate.

    Food Plant an Herb Garden
    Consider the ways you can garden: a plot of land? a patio container? hanging basket? windowsill gardens? What would work best for your living situation and lifestyle?

    I began a small herb garden on my kitchen windowsill. My goal next year is to build some raised beds in my back yard.

    Health Exercise Daily
    How can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?

    Over the summer I tried to incorporate exercise into spending time with friends and family. I would meet one of my friends for rollerblading instead of meeting for food and drinks. When visiting my in-laws in central Oregon I made sure we included a hike or brisk walk during our stay. However, I found it difficult to always incorporate exercise as some family and friends refuse no matter the difficulty level. For the family and friends that were willing to incorporate exercise we all agreed that we felt much better than sitting at a restaurant or bar the whole time.

      I've received the same type of resistance from family and friends. I've found that the best way is to lead by example and eventually more family and friends see how great those participating are feeling and join in the fun.

    How do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?

    When walking through my neighborhood I take time to appreciate the hard work my neighbors put into their homes. I take note of their porch decorations, new flowers/plants, new paint, etc. I also get the opportunity to stop and talk with some of the neighbors while they are out.

    I would like to focus on letting go of negativity through positive thinking. My hope is to reflect on any negative thoughts and find ways I could change that thought process or think of a fact that invalidates the negative thought.

    It is better to take a proactive approach to your health. Being proactive means taking the steps to ensure you're giving your body what it needs. I have noticed by eating whole foods I have re-establish my body's nutritional needs and wants and feel more in touch with what my body is saying.
