I've been wanting to start commuting to work by bike all summer, but as the days have been getting shorter, and it's now totally dark outside when I leave for work in the morning, this has made me nervous. Yesterday I finally purchased reflectors and additional lighting for my bike so that I will feel safer attempting the commute. I took the bus this morning, and plan to try to take either public transportation or my bike as much as humanly possible for the rest of the year. I'm already a zero-waste, plant-based minimalist, so driving is really the major area of my life I've known I needed to confront in terms of reducing my personal carbon footprint. This challenge gave me the push I needed to make it a priority.
