REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth HappinessHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?
Jill Punches 10/15/2018 12:54 PMIt helps to ground you when you are constantly shifting to a new normal. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Meet My Local FarmersWhen you know who produces your food, you are connecting personally to your complex regional food system. What are the advantages of knowing who produces your food and where it comes from? Do you think this might enable someone to advocate for a better quality of life for those who produce their food, both near and far?
Jill Punches 10/15/2018 12:53 PMI shopped at the Astoria Farmer's market and really enjoyed meeting the people behind the products. In particular, I enjoyed sampling and buying a salsa and guacamole made by the family of the boy who staffed the table. He was maybe 10 years old. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth More Fruits and VeggiesWhat do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other places, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How can we start shifting from a meat-focused food culture to a more plant-based one?
Jill Punches 10/15/2018 12:49 PMI don't eat a lot of meat, so I can't answer the first question - and there are other cultures that are quite meat-focused, so I kind of don't like what I perceive as a judgmental tone in the question.
A plant-based diet is energizing and I believe it brings more variety to our diet. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Buy From a Farmers MarketWhat is one food choice that you make, or could make, that would do more good and less harm?
Jill Punches 10/15/2018 12:47 PMI don't eat beef and believe it reduces methane and helps protect water sources and keep soils in balance.
Buying organic also protects the whole ecosystem. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Exercise DailyHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
