Food
Meet My Local Farmers
I will visit my nearest farm to find out who produces my food, and will learn about the quality of life of those who produce my food in other regions of the world to make better choices when I shop.
Food
Choose Organic Ingredients
I will enjoy 1 meal(s) cooked with organic ingredients each day.
Waste
Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Historically, marginalized and low-income communities live closer to landfills, contributing to a multitude of health problems. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate.
Waste
Use a Reusable Mug
I will avoid sending 1 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Waste
Use Reusable Bags
I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.

Prabhjot Rai 10/19/2018 1:49 PMI am trying my best to complete and follow all my challenges to save some energy. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable MugMaybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reuseable one but it's just hard to make the switch. Think about what stands in your way of making this a habit. By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?
Prabhjot Rai 10/11/2018 1:19 PMPeople at the coffee shop are not in habit of using my cup for coffee, they will put the coffee in their cup and then will pour in mine, which any ways is using one paper cup. I try my best not to buy coffee every morning from the shop and make my own and carry it in my own cup. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Skip the StrawHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?
Prabhjot Rai 10/11/2018 1:16 PMA lot of times I repurpose my old newspapers. I make paper bags from them and use them for other purposes in my house. I make multiple uses of my plastic boxes, which come as packages. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use Reusable BagsWhat do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reuseable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to establish this a successful habit?
Prabhjot Rai 10/11/2018 12:34 PMFirst is I will try to buy a reusable bag from the source. If not available then ask for an empty cardboard recyclable box from the store. Or I will carry my stuff in the cart to my car. I will not accept a non recyclable one. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Meet My Local FarmersWhen you know who produces your food, you are connecting personally to your complex regional food system. What are the advantages of knowing who produces your food and where it comes from? Do you think this might enable someone to advocate for a better quality of life for those who produce their food, both near and far?
Prabhjot Rai 10/11/2018 12:29 PMI always prefer buying from local farmer markets, that way I meet and interact with the farmers who produce my food. I feel connected with them and listen to their problems and when ever needed I will be there to support them. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Choose Organic IngredientsCan organic farming feed the world? Which side of the argument do you fall on? Why?
Prabhjot Rai 10/11/2018 12:26 PMOrganic farming can feed the world and save it from various kinds of medical problems. We need to look for various sources of organic fertilizers. We should inspire and support the farmers who go for organic farming. The prices of organic products need to be brought down too. -
Prabhjot Rai 10/10/2018 2:31 PMIf I attend any social gathers over the weekend I try by best to carpool with friends or family to reduce gas consumption and pollution. -
Prabhjot Rai 10/10/2018 2:30 PMIf I attend some social get together over the weekend, I always to car pool with friends or relatives. -
Prabhjot Rai 10/10/2018 2:26 PMTo reduce waste and recycle more. Leave the planet in a better condition for future generations. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Reduce Single-Use DisposablesBringing your own bags and containers to the grocery store, and even to restaurants for leftovers, are a couple of ways to reduce your waste. What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
