Clair's actions
Community
Support Native Communities
I will use the resource links provided and spend 30 minutes learning about the native populations that lived in my area prior to colonization, and what I can do to support those that still exist.
Energy
Online Energy Audit
I will complete an online energy audit of my home, office, or dorm room and identify my next steps for saving energy.
Water
Say No to Plastic Straws
An estimated 71% of seabirds and 30% of turtles have been found with plastics in their stomachs. When they ingest plastic, marine life has a 50% mortality rate. By asking for no straw when placing a drink order, I will keep 3 plastic straw(s) of out of the ocean each day.
Food
Whole Foods Diet
I will enjoy 1 meal(s) each day free of processed foods.
Nature
Explore My Area
I will explore at least one new hiking trail or nature walk in my area.
Waste
Use a Reusable Mug
I will avoid sending 1 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Nature
Go for a Daily Walk
I will take a 10-minute walk outside each day.
Health
Happiness
I will write down three things every day that I am grateful for, or send one email every day thanking or praising someone.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable MugMaybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reuseable one but it's just hard to make the switch. Think about what stands in your way of making this a habit. By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?
Clair Raujol 10/04/2018 10:59 AMI appreciate this one little move on my part. I wish it was easier to convince others to do the same. When you stand in line at a coffee shop it can be overwhelming to see all the disposable cups going out the door.-
John Wasiutynski 10/05/2018 9:56 AMUsing reusable cups, rinsing your reusable cup with cool water as opposed to hot water, and avoiding milk (especially late type drinks) are all great ways of reducing your coffee's carbon footprint. My pledge is to only get coffee if I can use a reusable mug, and I rarely use milk in my coffee. Learn more with this great report from DEQ.
