Community Talk To My Friends and Colleagues
What makes you feel connected to your neighborhood, your neighbors, or another kind of community in your life?

    michelle reid's avatar
    michelle reid 10/12/2018 12:51 PM
~Feeling connected to my community is knowing my neighbors by name ~seeing if they have needs that I can help with~Working together on a project or cleanup that is going on~Connection is about the WE~not the I~the flow of give and take~kindness shown~I like it when the children call me gramma here in my neighborhood~means that there is connection~

~I decided to join this challenge because I do try to live as simple as possible and want to see how much I am really doing~I want my legacy to my grandchildren to be that I did my best to be a good steward of the land and resources of which we borrow from our children and grandchildren~

    Nature Support Local Pollinators
Why is it important to take care of pollinators?

    michelle reid's avatar
    michelle reid 10/01/2018 4:37 PM
Pollinators are an intricate part of our ecosystem and are needed to help with reproduction of flowers and food~By caring for them~we are also caring for ourselves~we are interconnected~
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature Forage for My Food
Amongst the motivations for foraging are: a source of food; means of income; connecting with nature; cultural tradition; or transmitting "local ecological knowledge, and a means for stewarding local and native plant populations" (McLain et al. 2012, 13). Which of these would be your chief motivation and why?

    michelle reid 10/01/2018 4:28 PM
I would like to forage to have this as a food source that will compliment what I grow in my garden~I will also use this to teach children the art of foraging~
