  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reuseable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to establish this a successful habit?

My husband and I always have reusable bags in our cars.   If I forget the bags in the car then I just place my contents in the cart.   We always place reusable bags in our backpacks and luggage when travelling or going to local events.

I usually will opt for carrying things in my hands if I forget a reusable bag. It usually comes with an odd look from the cashier, but it also gives me the opportunity to explain why (i.e., I'm trying to use less plastic bags), and then hopefully that response helps them to reflect on their own actions the next time they find themselves in that situation.
