Robert's actions
Waste
Recycle Everything I Can
Contamination prevents what is recyclable from being recycled. I will spend 2 minutes researching and recycling all materials that are accepted by local haulers or drop stations in my community.
Waste
Compost Food Waste
I will avoid sending up to .69 lbs (.31 kg) of food waste to the landfill each day by composting my food or learning how to.
Waste
Use Reusable Bags
I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.
Waste
Use a Reusable Mug
I will avoid sending 2 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep 2 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.
Health
Take Control
Both system and personal sustainability are important! I will develop a plan with my medical professionals to achieve my best health and live my life to the fullest.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use Reusable BagsWhat do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reuseable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to establish this a successful habit?
Robert Rivera 9/25/2018 11:41 AMMake sure that you carry several reusable bags in your vehicles and use them when shopping-
Robin Straughan 9/26/2018 8:16 AMI make grocery bags with a pocket on the inside and keep them by the garage. I put my grocery list and car keys there as I'm getting ready to go to the store. Then I never forget my bags! -
Jennifer Nelson 9/25/2018 4:00 PMTwo tricks I use when I blew it and don't have them:
- Often stores have produce boxes you can pack your groceries in.
- I always just put my items back in the cart without bags at Costco. So buying in bulk reduces my bag use too.
