REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Meet My Local FarmersWhen you know who produces your food, you are connecting personally to your complex regional food system. What are the advantages of knowing who produces your food and where it comes from? Do you think this might enable someone to advocate for a better quality of life for those who produce their food, both near and far?
Stacy Rutherford 10/24/2018 2:24 PMIt helps us understand our community and economy so much more. Actually seeing and learning about the person behind the food helps to humanize many of these issues. It's easy to understand the environmental impact, but it goes beyond that. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Enjoy the Sunrise/SunsetFather Thomas Berry says, "...our primary purpose is celebration. Celebration of the dawn and the sunset and the different seasons of the year is a religious ritual, a way in which humans can establish their integral relationship with the universe, with the planet Earth." Respond to Berry's assertion.
Stacy Rutherford 10/24/2018 2:23 PMI agree with this assertion. Celebration is an expression of love and gratitude, which I believe are central to the human purpose. Further, we are a product of the Earth and celebrating it helps us remember to respect it and take care of it as well. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Go for a Daily WalkHow do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?
Stacy Rutherford 10/24/2018 2:16 PMI notice so many more things. When driving, I'm paying attention to the road & other drivers, but while walking I notice the people, new buildings, businesses and more! It makes me appreciate the neighborhood more and I feel a part of it, rather than just passing through. -
Stacy Rutherford 10/23/2018 7:51 PMI’m trying to hold off on turning on my heat until November 1 to save money and energy. The warmer weather lately has made it easy, but today is the first day that is tempting me! -
Stacy Rutherford 10/22/2018 2:20 PMMany of my food containers have gone missing at the office over the past year or so, unfortunately. This weekend I bought a new set and will keep closer tabs on them! I try my best to use reusable containers instead of ziploc bags, foil, etc. Have already put the stasher bag I won at the launch party to good use! -
Stacy Rutherford 10/19/2018 11:43 AMWas bummed the heavy fog this morning meant no sunrise :(
Checking in early today means I'll be mindful about choosing a meatless lunch and/or dinner option. -
Stacy Rutherford 10/17/2018 11:14 AMI'm really going to miss my walks into work when the weather turns. Taking advantage of these sunny walks now! -
Stacy Rutherford 10/16/2018 11:25 AMApparently 1 meatless meal a day wasn't much of a challenge for me...but it is making me pay more attention to that aspect of my diet. -
Stacy Rutherford 10/15/2018 12:34 PMAfter 4.5 years in Portland I finally ventured up to Powell Butte. This weekend was the perfect time to go with the clear sunny weather. It was nice to dedicate a large chunk of my day to being outside. I even saw a deer out on the trail! -
Stacy Rutherford 10/12/2018 8:24 AMYesterday I took a walk with Amber in the afternoon, then went for a run at sunset. This beautiful weather is making it easy to spend more time outdoors!
