REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergyWhat most interested or surprised you about your own energy footprint?
Sara Sherer 10/04/2018 6:22 AMI don't know that I was particularly surprised. I know that I have older appliances and probably should start saving to replace those as I need to.... but (unfortunately) there are other financial priorities, like getting out of debt, that have to come first. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicityWhat would you like to invest more time in reflecting on?
Sara Sherer 10/04/2018 6:12 AMI like to reflect on living simply and finding ways to slow down the pace of life. Depending on the day, this might take me in a lot of different directions! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealthHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?
Sara Sherer 10/04/2018 6:09 AMPracticing gratitude really changes my outlook. It can be easy to be negative, and things certainly aren't always easy and definitely don't always go my way... but recognizing the things that I am grateful for helps me not to dwell on those things. It is also fun to keep a written record of things that I'm thankful and grateful for. Sometimes I re-read through those and it is a nice reminder - of where I've been, of what I've achieved/accomplished, of what I appreciate. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?
Sara Sherer 10/04/2018 6:05 AMthat is so sad. Every time that I throw food away, I hate it. I hate wasting the food and I hate wasting the money that was used to purchase that food. It is super-sad to think that I might have $1500 more in my annual budget (more than $100 per month!) if I didn't waste it. I'd like to think that I waste less than that, but I don't know for sure. I think sometimes it is easy to overestimate how much I need - especially things like fresh produce that isn't going to last forever.... but I also try to minimize the number of times I go to the store, so I probably over-purchase in the hopes that I won't have to go to the store again for more than a week.
