Mackenzie Stabenow 10/24/2018 8:24 AMBeen doing a much better job at recycling at home too! Being Eco-friendly truly isn't that hard! -
Mackenzie Stabenow 10/23/2018 3:35 PMLast day of the Eco-Challenge! Let's not stop our consciousness just because the month is ending! -
Mackenzie Stabenow 10/23/2018 2:07 PMThe ecochallenege has been really eye opening! There are so many more things I can do to help the environment. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergyWhat most interested or surprised you about your own energy footprint?
Mackenzie Stabenow 10/23/2018 2:01 PMI was surprised at how much my energy footprint spikes in the summer due to my extreme obsessiveness to keep the thermostat at 68/69. I hate being hot! I think I'll start changing during the day when Im out of the house. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityWhat sustainability issues are most pressing or prominent where you live?
Mackenzie Stabenow 10/23/2018 1:59 PMOur carbon footprints are quite large here because of the lack of good public transportation. However, I think that we can improve that by ride share. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityHow does environmental quality influence your sense of community?
Mackenzie Stabenow 10/23/2018 1:57 PMEnvironmental quality influences the activities you can participate in, in your community! Earth Day is one of the most wonderful days in Forrest Park. All because of the environment. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodConsider the ways you can garden: a plot of land? a patio container? hanging basket? windowsill gardens? What would work best for your living situation and lifestyle?
Mackenzie Stabenow 10/22/2018 1:05 PMMy boyfriend and I planted some basil! It's in a small windowsill garden pot. We cant wait to use it in pasta! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNatureAmongst the motivations for foraging are: a source of food; means of income; connecting with nature; cultural tradition; or transmitting "local ecological knowledge, and a means for stewarding local and native plant populations" (McLain et al. 2012, 13). Which of these would be your chief motivation and why?
Mackenzie Stabenow 10/22/2018 12:59 PMConnecting with nature would be my main motivation. I love being outdoors and spending time with friends when outdoors. Spending time with my feet in the grass, dirt, river.... it's awesome! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNatureHow can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place?
Mackenzie Stabenow 10/22/2018 12:57 PMThis past weekend I went to a park I frequent and tried out a new trail. It's so peaceful to smell the fresh air especially when I live in a city area. My calves are killing me from the 4 mile hike tho!
