After living in the same neighborhood for nearly 20 years, it's nice to finally be a member of the Neighborhood Association.  Thanks for the nudge!

A second post on plastic straws.  I just realized that my office has plastic stirrers and I've been using them every day for as long as I can recall.  I will stop using these and find out if we can switch to a more sustainable option.

I asked and the office is switching to wood, biodegradable stirrers.  Hopefully it's a small change that leads to a larger awareness and conversation.

Great idea! Wooden stir sticks could be an option  that is more sustainable than plastic. We use those in the Portland office. Let us know if you find something even better!

I just purchased some cool, multicolored metal straws for the kids to use when we eat out.  I'd never really thought about plastic straw waste before and now I know there are a lot of alternatives, including glass and bamboo.
