COMPLETED 15
DAILY ACTIONS

Waste

Skip the Straw

Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.

Waste

Use Reusable Bags

I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.

Reduce Single-Use Disposables

Historically, marginalized and low-income communities live closer to landfills, contributing to a multitude of health problems. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reuseable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to establish this a successful habit?

I should build a successful habit of keeping a reuseable bag with me all the time. If I caught up in a situation where I don't have a reuseable bag with me and I need to carry some items, I'll never use a disposable bag, Instead I'll carry things with me with my hands and will come again if I am not able to carry all the items in one go.

    Waste Skip the Straw
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?

We should keep in mind these "R's" (reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, re-purpose) and employ these factors wherever possible. Use Mindfulness and Focused Attention.

There is a lake in my area which is highly polluted with sewage. The foam covering the water surface sometimes caught fire. Attempts have been made to take positive action to save the lake. Many Lake Rejuvenation Programs have been started. Me and my friends regularly visit that area and try to clean the area, as clean as possible. Educating people not to throw garbage in the lake.
