REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Plant an Herb GardenConsider the ways you can garden: a plot of land? a patio container? hanging basket? windowsill gardens? What would work best for your living situation and lifestyle?
Violet Taraya 10/23/2018 1:17 PMMy mom, my brother and I do plant herbs and vegetables, and it's amazing. We use many types of types of gardening, like hanging baskets and plots of land. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Take ControlHow do environmental health, community health, and your personal health intersect?
Violet Taraya 10/23/2018 1:12 PMIt is very important to keep everything balanced, and it does all connect in a way. My personal health depends on community and environmental health, and the community health is based on my and others' personal health.-
Marina De La Torre 10/23/2018 1:15 PMThanks violet, that's really cool!!

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsWhat do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than in other places, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?
Violet Taraya 10/23/2018 1:06 PMMeat is very widely advertised on T.V. and served in restaurants, so I feel people are affected by the pressures of society to like and eat and enjoy meat. This says that a lot of people are influenced by media to make their decisions. We could start advertising less red meat and more healthier alternatives. We could also help by promoting vegetarian culture. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Go for a Daily WalkHow do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?
Violet Taraya 10/19/2018 12:37 PMI did, I noticed things I wouldn't have noticed before about my neighborhood. I usually just go on my phone when I'm in a car, but I really got to look around when I went on my walk. -
Violet Taraya 10/18/2018 12:25 PMI feel these challenges have really been helping me become a better person, and become more aware about my community and the environment. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Volunteer in my CommunityWhat is one thing you can do to help your community become more sustainable?
Violet Taraya 10/18/2018 12:22 PMI could help conserve more water, I can help advocate for healthier and more locally sourced food, I can start growing my own food and making them instead of buying packaged and processed goods. I could also help and advocate for more recycling awareness. There is a lot I can do, and a lot of what others can do. If we are all determined and caring enough we could work together to change the world.-
Lora Jones 10/20/2018 8:12 PMExcellent response, Violet! Not buying packaged and processed foods and growing your own is ideal....The food would be tastier and less plastic!

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Advocate For More Food Packaging OptionsWhat concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.
Violet Taraya 10/11/2018 12:37 PMI think that we, being a city, although we have many volunteers and organizations helping the community, still are making more pollution than we are helping clear pollution. As a local community, I think we are doing a lot to maintain a healthy world, though. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWater Get Involved in the Water Justice MovementWho is affected by polluted water or a lack of access to water in your region? How are they affected?
Violet Taraya 10/11/2018 12:28 PMI think learning about water conservation is very important, and I think it's very good information to spread around. I love learning about how I can help save water and keep it clean. I've started to drink more purified water, and have stopped watering my lawn as much as I used to. :)) -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Find Local Recycling DepotsOur ability to recycle certain things ebbs and flows based upon many factors. Luckily there are places that accept uncommon things to recycle or dispose of in a less harmful way. What did you find when looking for places to recycle items that can't be recycled in your curbside bin?
Violet Taraya 10/09/2018 1:21 PMI have been noticing that some things cannot be recycled, or at least put in the recycling bin, and not only will I be more aware of what I use, I will use less non-recyclable stuff :D-
Lora Jones 10/09/2018 8:02 PMGreat reflection, Violet!
