REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergyWhat most interested or surprised you about your own energy footprint?
Cee Vee 10/23/2018 6:59 PMI was disappointed to see how much more I could be doing. I am interested in getting my home professionally evaluated to maximize energy efficiency. When we need a new roof, I want to get the solar tiles. I want to add more insulation to our attic. It is frustrating that I feel like I already so much but the audit told me I'm still 9 point less efficient than "efficient homes in Los Angeles." I don't know if I trust the audit as it said that my home is less efficient than other homes in my neighborhood, and yet I feel like I live a much more efficient life than some of my neighbors. Again, this makes me want to seek out a professional evaluation, and also talk to my neighbors about increasing their efficiency. -
Cee Vee 10/09/2018 11:29 PMTracking my purchases has been easier than I expected. I went out shopping with a friend this week, and being more mindful of my spending, especially when it comes to buying things like clothes I don't need, has really helped me not be so impulsive. The hardest thing has been situations in which I was forced to buy pre-packaged food (I was stuck at an airport), so not only was it a meal that I wouldn't typically eat, but to get the healthy things I wanted, I needed to buy multiple packages of things. I was mindful to bring the recyclable packages home with me so I could rinse and properly recycle them. -
Cee Vee 10/09/2018 11:25 PMEating mindfully is still proving to be the hardest thing. I've realized how much my mind wanders, whether I'm in conversation with someone or not, and how I crave the instant gratification of looking things up on my phone or computer. I also realized that I use eating as another chance to multitask, so it's nice to have it be a real break, but it's so far the hardest habit to break. -
Cee Vee 10/05/2018 12:45 AMThis challenge has been great motivation to work on this incrementally. So, instead of feeling like the task is big and impossible and then putting it off forever, I now dedicate a few minutes every day to evaluating my belongings and also figuring out the best ways to re-home things I'm not keeping in ways that minimize the waste. -
Cee Vee 10/03/2018 9:40 PMOff to a good start. Currently brainstorming how I can keep up with certain goals while I'm traveling this weekend, and also thinking about how I can reduce my carbon footprint despite traveling. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicityMindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How do your eating experiences differ when practicing mindfulness?
Cee Vee 10/03/2018 9:39 PMThis was the hardest for me. I'm never distracted while eating breakfast, so that was easy. However, at lunch, I almost picked up my phone to look at the weather before I remembered that I can't do this as part of my challenge. Dinner was hard as well because I eat alone, so it made me feel anxious to not have any distraction from my meal. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicityWhat have you noticed about your purchases? Where are you inclined to make shifts, if any?
Cee Vee 10/03/2018 9:31 PMToday I realized how much I don't realize when I'm purchasing things. I needed to buy a scale to use for artwork fabrication. As I'm out of town this weekend, I reluctantly bought it on Amazon. Later in the day, I realized that I needed funnels for artwork fabrication as well. Once again, I found myself back on Amazon, reluctantly. It made me feel wasteful for not combining those purchases, even knowing that Amazon would ship them separately anyway. It made me want to recommit to buying as much in person, in consolidated trips, as possible.
