Cynthia's actions
Food
Watch a Documentary about Food Sovereignty
I will watch 1 documentary(ies) about food sovereignty: the right of local peoples to control their own food systems including markets, ecological resources, food cultures and production methods.
Health
Go get a check up
I will make an appointment for my annual physical.
Simplicity
Limit Social Media
I will limit my social media use to once each day reducing my daily use by 15 minute(s)
Simplicity
Needs Vs. Wants
I will adopt a "Needs Vs. Wants" approach and only buy things I need.
Health
Avoid refined sugar
I will adopt a diet free of refined sugars, which eliminates sweetened beverages, candy, and processed foods.
Nature
Go for a Daily Walk
I will take a 20-minute walk outside each day.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.

REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Go for a Daily WalkHow do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?

REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Limit Social MediaSocial media is a great way to keep us connected with loved ones, makes us laugh, and helps us to learn new things. It can also take more time than we realize or intend to give. After doing this action for a few days now, how do you feel? What do you notice?
Cynthia Walker 10/17/2018 12:26 PMReducing or skipping social media feeds like Facebook are really helping to reduce the clutter in my thoughts. Whether its stress about some thread I saw or worrying if I'm missing out on something, the daily check ins to social media were taking a toll. I find I am better without the screen time. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Skip the StrawHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?
Cynthia Walker 10/17/2018 12:22 PMIt's remarkable how many restaurants still put a straw in a water glass before they even bring it to the table. I have to remember to ask for "no straw" as soon as we are seated. Occasionally I get strange looks or am asked why, but it's worth it to skip the straw.
